Manifesto Theme by The Manifesto Band

I don't know much about this band other than that they are somehow tied to Syracuse, the fair city of my birth, and that a fellow calling himself Dharma Sawyer writes some of their songs. Dharma is one of my favorite contemporary songwriters so if you're out there, Dharma, please hit me up next time you're around NYC and we shall surely jam mightily.

First half of the rehearsal, before the smoke break. Mics were positioned right in front of Scott's amp which is fine because he's a shredder, but it kind of drowned out everything else. Too bad because Joe totally killed it on the drums. This song really needs bass to drive it, though.

Christopher was playing a cheap Mexican Strat through a Fender amp (I think it was this one).

The good Lord willin', what you hear here will end up being the lineup of Flush, currently the greatest band on this planet or the next. Where is that place where Sid Vicious meets Jerry Garcia and where Chuck D meets Johnny Cash? We haven't quite found it yet, but we're getting closer all the time.

The ultra-silly Spinal Tap-esque intro makes this one worth the price of admission.

I know I promised powerful vox this week, but the best laid plans of mice and men... anyway, it's pretty dope.

Message to the future: Sorry about the mess. This song is quite beautiful, and it's engineered to what you might call "commercial standards" which is kind of a good thing, I guess, although I prefer experimenting.

Lyrical tweaking needed in the second verse, and the third verse was freestyled.

Nobody will hear it in the future if nobody hears it now, so you kind of have to disregard the comment at the end. Enjoy.

Hello, Hip-Hop?... Yeah, Rock 'n' Roll called... he says he wants his attitude back.

This was the very first recording of this song. There will be others, oh yes. Toyed with the idea of adding a wailing guitar solo (you'll know where) but decided to keep it pure. Also did another mixdown that sounds much cleaner (EQ-ed to accentuate vocals, no fancy panning or echoing or anything like that) than this one, but I like this one.

Turn this shit up if you know what's good for you.
